Shop Drawings

Are you a contractor who needs shop drawings? If yes, then we can help you.

About My Team and I

My name is Brian M. Curran. Since 2007 I’ve run a drafting service business in NYC.

I have a drafting team. We create shop drawings for contractors who specialize in different construction disciplines. So we create shops of concrete, ductwork, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, HVAC, millwork, miscellaneous steel, plumbing, rubber membrane roof, sheet metal drawings, and structural steel.

We’ve done shops for both commercial and residential projects, private and government contracts, and included a mixture of new construction, fit-out, remodel, and rehabilitation work.

We Provide Top-Notch Service

As the manager of my drafting team I understand that you as a contractor are looking for certain traits from your drafting service. You want a service provider who will promptly answer your calls/emails, is reliable, will give you realistic drawing delivery dates, has been around for years, has the experience you need, and has more than one drafter so you’re not left waiting in a long line. We can provide you with this level of service.

By The Way: “What Are Shop Drawings?”

Perhaps you are doing research for your boss to find someone to create shop drawings for you, and you don’t know what shop drawings are? If yes, then let me take a minute to explain what they are.

The “Means Illustrated Construction Dictionary Third Edition Unabridged” says shop drawings are:

Drawings created by a contractor, subcontractor, vendor, manufacturer, or other entity that illustrate construction, dimensions, installation, materials, methods, and other pertinent information for the incorporation of an element or item into the construction.

The “AIA Document Commentary, A201-2007 General Conditions of the Contract for Construction” document states in section 3.12.1:

Shop Drawings are drawings, diagrams, schedules and other data specially prepared for the Work by the Contractor or a Subcontractor, Sub-subcontractor, manufacturer, supplier or distributor to illustrate some portion of the Work.

Lastly, Wikipedia cites “R Pietroforte (1997)(PDF), Construction Management & Economics, Taylor & Francis Retrieved 2007-02-23“, which says:

A shop drawing is a drawing or set of drawings produced by the contractor, supplier, manufacturer, subcontractor, or fabricator.
