In this blog post I’ll highlight a project for which I provided millwork shop drawings. My specific scope of work was to create kitchen cabinet shop drawings.
And below is one of the architect’s millwork drawings for one of the kitchens in the building.
The Architectural Millwork Drawings For A Brooklyn, NY Building
My client on this project was the owner of a new multi-family residential building located in Brooklyn, NY. It was a multi-story building. Below is the NYC zoning sheet for the building, so you can get a better idea of the size of this project.

The Kitchen Cabinet Shop Drawings I Created
My scope of work for this project was to create multiple custom kitchen cabinetry drawings. Below is one set of cabinet fabrication drawings for a kitchen in one of the apartments in the building. The kitchen was for a typical apartment floor plan, repeated on multiple floors, so the kitchen configuration would be used for multiple apartments. I was able to fit everything on one sheet, without overcrowding the sheet. I like to do this if possible, so the fabricator does not have to look through multiple sheets. The kitchen joinery plans that I created included the typical features that such shops generally have, like: key plan, cabinet plan, elevations, sections, spot details, general notes, finishes legend, equipment legend, and fixture legend. Nothing unusual here. I’d include such on most any similar project I’d do. From the architect’s drawing above you can see these were custom-built cabinets, and not off-the-shelf items. Some features of these cabinets were panel shutters with plywood veneer finish framing, veneered finish plywood adjustable shelves, heavy duty concealed hinges, heavy duty drawer runners, stone backsplash, stone countertop, veneered finish plywood drawer face, and veneered plywood baseboard. These cabinets were also built using 3/4″ marine plywood substrate, which was a good long-term decision. (Note: Click image to launch PDF.)
